The Japanese Table: Small Plates for Simple Meals

95,00

The Japanese Table is not the most typical cookbook: the idea is to combine minimalist Scandinavian aesthetics with Japanese flavors. It features thirty beautifully photographed recipes for small, easy and quick to prepare, but still tasty and elegant dishes. In addition to the recipes, there is also information about teas, as well as many atmospheric photographs of streets, pubs and temples.

The Japanese Table plays with the Japanese tradition of Ichiju Sansai (一汁三菜) – a simple, everyday meal consisting of one soup and three courses (usually one main and two side dishes + pickles.) Although preparing so many different elements for one meal may seem ambitious, the selected recipes are truly uncomplicated and you will easily prepare a tasty and, what is also important, eye-catching meal. Sofia Hellsten suggests 10 combinations, but from such a small number of recipes you can actually compose dozens of different meals yourself.

There are no meat options here (although fish do appear) and most dishes can easily be adapted to vegan/vegetarian requirements by omitting or substituting dashi broth.
