Enjoy Learning Chinese Characters proposes an interesting way to learn 856 Chinese characters through association and similarity. The 856 most used characters are compiled, including 623 characters from the HSK levels 1 to 3. The textbook contains instructions for use and two indexes: by pinyin transcription and by radicals.
Characters are explained based on each of the basic elements (which are grouped according to the subject – people / life / nature). The way it’s done resembles a puzzle: to one radical we add other pieces whcih together form a specific sign. For each character, you will find a description that helps to strengthen the associations, as well as vocabulary or examples of use – and of course, the reading and the stroke order. The book also shows the old appearance of some characters, which really helps with associating the characters’ origins with their meaning.
