Hong Kong Visual Culture: The M+ Guide is a unique book that presents the culture of Hong Kong. On the one hand, it can be treated strictly as a guidebook to the city itself (there is even a hand-drawn map attached, which can also serve as a pretty poster), and on the other – a source of knowledge about broadly understood culture and art.
M+ is a modern museum, opened in 2021, which presents Hong Kong’s visual culture of the 20th and 21st centuries. You will find their exhibits and projects divided into three categories: items, places and perspectives. From popular culture to applied art, from architecture to fashion, touching almost all fine arts, the album shows contemporary Hong Kong from many different perspectives.
Each presented work is accompanied by a description – in these short texts you will read not only about their creation or the artists, but also learn about their broader historical and cultural context.
