Indonesian Stories for Language Learners is a new book published by Tuttle. The publishing house is finally expanding their offer beyond the most popular Asian languages. The presented stories come from various parts of Indonesia – we can already see in the table of contents which region the texts come from – and reflect the country’s cultural diversity.
There are 21 texts are of various genres, modeled after widely used materials for learning the Indonesian language so that the students can become familiar with intermediate level reading exercises. Among the texts you will find legends, dialogues, a diary, newspaper articles, and even traditional poems and songs (with musical notes!) and more.
Additional materials are prepared for each text: comprehension and grammar exercises, discussion points, a glossary, grammar exercises as well as a short note explaining the cultural context. At the end of the book you will also find a comprehensive dictionary. You will also find information how to access free audio materials (all the texts read by native speakers).
