Before the physical copy of this book fell into my hands, I expected more of an album – photos of Seoul streets, of young people who are not afraid to experiment with style and break conventions, of the most fashionable spots – and minimal amount of text. But k-style in Make Break Remix is not limited only to clothing, it’s a whole lifestyle, and you’ll learn about that from the many creative people invited to contribute to this book. Choreographers, architects, stylists, models, drag queens (and many more!) answer similar questions.
Here they share their inspirations, talk about artistic growth and finding their own paths, as well as the role of social media in creating new trends and reaching a larger audience. They also offer their thoughts on the future expansion of Korean style. What I found the most interesting were their opinions about Seoul. For some, it is a stuffy city, which you have to escape from once in a while, but for others – the only place where they could spread their wings. Short essay-interviews are mixed with intimate photos of the city by Less _Kim Tae Kyun, who has worked with Vogue and GQ.
