A frantic duel of a group of young losers with a group of ladies 40+ (all having the same name, Midori) to the rhythm of the greatest hits of the Shōwa period (1926-1989). The struggle of these two atypical gangs develops and develops like a storm, wreaking increasing havoc and destruction. Popular Hits of the Showa Era is undoubtedly the lightest novel by Murakami, which draws in and surprises with the amount of (not always politically correct) humour.
