Rosa’s Thai Cafe: The Vegetarian Cookbook features over 100 vegan and vegetarian recipes selected by Saiphin Moore, who runs a well-known chain of Thai restaurants in the UK.
From appetizers and salads to entire main courses, you’ll find a huge variety of fresh and quick recipes, and the color-saturated photos in a slightly retro style (reminiscent of the Local series) will inspire to both cook and eat. The recipes are rather simple, but full of strong flavors, not only because of the ubiquitous chilli, but also the influences of other cuisines – for example in the recipe typical of the north of the country, tofu in Chinese five spice sauce.
With over a dozen stir-fry dishes, multiple curries, noodles, and rice-based recipes, it’s sure to expand your culinary repertoire, but perhaps the most interesting part of the book is the chapter on salads, one of the most popular Thai dishes. The recipes with papaya or tofu may be more familiar, but we recommend trying green bean, corn or mushroom salads – the ingredients can be easily found in stores but prepared in this new way, they will be elevated to on a completely different dimension.
