Shin hanga is an art movement whcih started at the beginning of the 20th century in Japan, an attempt at a of revival of the traditional ukiyo-e art from the Edo and Meiji periods. The artists were clearly inspired by European impressionism, incorporating Western elements and techniques into their work and combining them with traditional subjects.
