Tokyo at Night is the second (after Tokyo Storefronts) Japanese-English album of watercolor works by Mateusz Urbanowicz, who this time explores dark corners, back alleys or abandoned Tokyo parking lots – places that gain an aura of mystery, futurism and a bit of nostalgia in his work. As Urbanowicz admits in the introduction, night walks were a way to calm down after a day at work, a kind of meditation, and he takes the readers along such a soothing walk in Tokyo at Night.
The album is divided into five chapters: High buildings, Strange places, Trains and bridges, Rain TokyoandBack Alleys. In addition, the book includes comments from the artist himself, who shares technical details about the creation of each illustration.
