Building Nature is a two-volume monograph on the work of Vo Trong Nghia, one of Asia’s most innovative architects. His projects are inspired bythe history of Vietnam, and also by Buddhist thought and the harmony and minimalism which stem from it. There are projects of both private and public spaces: residences, cafes, hotels, and offices, each of them accompanied with a short description.
The volume Green presents buildings that incorporate plants, chosen with the tropical weather of Vietnam in mind. Hidden gardens, plant walls or green roofs – these are just a few of Vo’s ideas. The tome Bamboo presents amazing results of using such a modest material. Most of the structures are made of bamboo only and show the creativity with which the material can be transformed into complex arches or domes, using techniques perfected over the years.
