Pyun Hye-young

Pyun Hye-young (편혜영), born 1972, a South Korean writer known for her distinctive, dark style. Recently, three books in particular, translated into English by Sora Kim-Russell, brought her popularity: “The Law of Lines”, “City of Ash and Red” and “The Hole”. The last one was released in Poland in 2017 as “Dół“.

Pyun’s stories are often described as psychological thrillers, although they are not easily put into categories. Pyun uses suspense and horror, but her novels are multi-dimensional, touching on socially relevant topics such as epidemics, environmental pollution, disability and disease.
