Do you know Concrete Tokyo Map? Do you also dream of walking around the Japanese capital following the trail of the most interesting brutalist and concrete buildings? I have good news – you can also plan such a trip (in real or on-line) around Seoul. And let me tell you one thing – there is a lot to see.
In addition to the brutalist architecture from several decades ago, we can find a lot of fascinating architectural concrete works in the Korean capitals; museums, churches, shops by famous designers, and many more. But if I had to point out one thing, it would be Seoullo 7017, the motorway flyover in the very centre of the city excluded from use, from which a walking route was made with trees and benches. Finding it on the map made me reminiscence about how I took a walk there one morning on my way to a shop serving traditional Korean pumpkin porridge…
In short: Concrete Seoul Map is an alternative way of looking at the city. For a long time I thought that concrete was boring, but the longer I sit over architectural books, the more I miss getting to know these concrete metropolises.
