Pyongyang Architecture Map

45,00

Concrete Tokyo Map and Concrete Seoul Map are joined by the third map from the East Asian cycle – Pyongyang Architecture Map – a position that wonderfully complements Model City Pyongyang (and its wonderful photos).

For me, this map is so fascinating as I had the opportunity to live for two months in the capital of North Korea – that’s why I spent a lot of time trying to recreate my walking routes and regretting that I did not see this or that building (but I was also happy that I did manage to see a lot of them, even if only for a moment). You will find here both the most famous monuments – the Juche Tower, the Arch of Reunification and the Monument to Party Founding, but also residential buildings, museums, hotels and stadiums. The map is accompanied by a short bilingual introductory essay, just enough to practice your Korean.

"Think of North Korea and you might picture missile parades in front of endless rows of drab concrete blocks. But the capital, Pyongyang, is a place of surprisingly original architecture, from the billowing silvery shells of the May Day Stadium, to apartament towers rendered in distinctive pastel colours."
