175,00

Domon Ken: The Master of Japanese Realism was created on the occasion of an exhibition in Rome. The album start with four short essays, introducing Domon’s work and its various aspects, primarily in the social context. The photos are partly organized by period of activity and partly by theme; each chapter opens with a short introduction.

You will find a comphrehensive selection of the most important photographs, from the poignant photo series of realism of the 1950s and 1960s, including victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb blast; through intimate portraits of many famous personalities of Japanese culture – among them such writers as Yukio Mishima or Yasunari Kawabata – to probably the most famous of his works: photos of Buddhist temples, statues or temple gardens.
